North West Basic Education is investigating allegations of cheating at Monchusi Secondary School at Morokweng village in North West.

About 35 matric pupils writing the Life Science mid-year paper allegedly received a memorandum containing all the answers from their teacher through social media. If found guilty, they will have to re-write the paper.

North West Basic Education’s Elias Malindi says: “We immediately conducted investigations, we went to school to look for that teacher and we also went out for those messages and indeed we found that really there were those answers.”

Now concern that the incident could have a negative impact on implicated pupils ahead of the final matric exams.

The implicated teacher has disappeared.

Last year, twenty four Bloemhof matric pupils cheated in their final exams.

Some of the pupils' results were nullified and some were instructed to re-write matric at the end of this year.

Those who cooperated were instructed to re-write supplementary papers in March.
